A server is simply a computer that allows any user to log onto it and download information. When you visit a website you are downloading the page, which is just a file, to your computer. The browser, Internet Explorer, Netscape, AOL, etc., interprets the file and displays the text and images.

2. What is a domain and why do I need to register it?

A domain is the name of your website such as www.teamseaholm.com. When you register your domain people can get to your site by typing the domain as the address. Without getting to deep, the world wide web WWW servers resolve the domain name and transport users to the server and the location of the files of your site. You will need to check to see if the domain you want is currently registered. If someone already owns the name then you'll need to use another domain name. 4. What is a web host?

A web host is a company that provides server space for your site. We did a great deal of research before transferring www.rccombat.com to a new web hosting company. We chose Parcom Hosting for a number of reasons but mainly because of their customer testimonials. Reports of service calls that are answered by human beings and not an automated system. Our experience with Parcom has been excellent. Their response time to requests has been very timely and their support staff are all very helpful.
